Waking up on July 5th, 2019 is a great day to wake up because today I am 25 years clean and sober. It has been an interesting 25 years. My sobriety story starts when I was 12 years old. That is when I tried my first hit of drugs. Drugs were an easy way out for me because at that time my days included me going to school where bullying was a regular thing. I knew I was gay, but I didn’t tell anyone so I was in the closet.
The Angel Love Project donated Christmas cookies and cookie decorations to the Eliadia children and staff on Christmas Day. A local volunteer group came to the Eliada kitchen to cook the foster kids a homemade lunch. Michelle and Amy volunteered their Christmas afternoon to help out with the meal by setting up, serving, and cleaning up afterwards.
Cooking A Turkey Dinner At Eliada Children's Home
This Thanksgiving Day, we will be volunteering our time to help cook a Thanksgiving Feast at Eliada Children's Home in Asheville, North Carolina. Amy and I (Michelle) are going to help prepare a dinner for 45 kids, ages 6-17 who live at Eliada. The menu includes: 5 turkeys, gravy, stuffing, mash potatoes and veggies.
Did you happen to notice that there is no dessert on their menu? We sure did! We think dessert is the best part of the whole meal. Don't you?
Since dessert is not on the menu, our Board Of Directors loved the idea of donating some pies to the Eliada kids and staff. We will use some of our funds from Angel K Love Project to donate 10 pies. Yum!

As founders of the Angel K Love Project, we felt it was important for our supporters to learn a little bit more about our personal stories. We wanted more people to know and understand why we are so passionate about the Angel K Love Project (AKLP).
In this video we share the following information with you:
With everything that is happening in the United States with children, it’s no wonder the Universe and the angels guided us to take a second look at establishing the AKLP closer to home. Creating safe, loving, and healthy sanctuaries for children in the foster care system has never been more needed than it is today!
Thanks to some recent laws that have changed in a handful of States for same-sex couples (read the blog titled, Phase #5: Travel Research In North Carolina ), we are happy to announce that we are getting ourselves ready to move to North Carolina!
Starting up a non-profit with a huge vision like ours is not an easy task! We know that finding the perfect location is the key to the AKLP’s success, but it’s also the most difficult undertaking because our location needs to be safe, affordable, surrounded by natural resources AND have plenty of room for our organization to grow.
In this video, you will hear brief loving words from our Board of Directors Julene Noa (Secretary-Treasurer) and Cathy Hawk (Vice President) at our Charity Dinner. Amy and I also shared a brief update about our current progress as we search for the perfect location for the Angel K Love Project to begin.*This was filmed at our Eat, Drink & Be Giving Charity Dinner at Sushi Hai in Denver, CO on March 18, 2018. Recorded and edited by Yari Figueroa.

Equine therapy is experiential in nature. What does that mean? For kids, it means that by working alongside the horse, the child will learn about themselves and others by participating in activities with the horses, and then processing (or discussing) feelings, behaviors, and patterns with the adult coach. Horses are intimidating to many as they are large, powerful and somewhat unpredictable. This creates an opportunity for some to overcome fear and develop confidence. Working alongside a horse, in spite of those fears, creates confidence and provides wonderful insight when dealing with other intimidating and challenging situations in life.
