Starting up a non-profit with a huge vision like ours is not an easy task! We know that finding the perfect location is the key to the AKLP’s success, but it’s also the most difficult undertaking because our location needs to be safe, affordable, surrounded by natural resources AND have plenty of room for our organization to grow.
Gay Parenting, Foster Care, And Adoption In USA
In addition to the daunting task of securing a location, we also have to be very mindful and considerate of the laws put into place (or not put in place) for gay parents. Amy and I have hopes and dreams of fostering and adopting kids of our own too, so we would never want to put any child in danger because of who we are (as founders of the Angel K Love Project and as future parents).
Everybody knows that gay marriage became legal in the U.S.A. in 2015, but what a lot of people don’t know is that the legalization of same-sex marriage does not always protect same-sex parents who want to be foster parents and/or adopt. To this day, every State has a different set of laws, so many of the different laws in place do not always protect and/or give same-sex parents equal rights.
WE’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO HELP ORPHANED, FOSTER AND ABANDONED CHILDREN HERE IN THE USA, BUT MANY OF THE LAWS HAVE NEVER BEEN IN OUR FAVOR. SINCE THERE WERE UNEQUAL LAWS FOR US, WE NEVER FELT WE COULD HELP AS EFFECTIVELY AND SAFELY AS WE WOULD LIKE. CONSEQUENTLY, THAT WAS ONE OF THE MAJOR REASONS WHY WE CONTINUED OUR SEARCH OUTSIDE OF THE USA.
BIG NEWS! Some Laws Have Changed In Some States, Yay!
Due to the very high need for Foster Care and adoption in the USA, some States have recently changed their laws to give children a better chance! As recent as January 2018, a handful of States changed their laws to benefit biracial, single, AND gay parents equally in the USA. So now, in some States, gay parents now have equal rights and equal protection to adopt and to be foster parents!
Our Big Announcement!
So, with these recent discoveries, we thought it would be in the AKLP’s (and our) best interest to change the direction of our search to a location in the U.S. whom has changed their laws and has high-needs for help and support. If some of the United States are willing to change their laws to help and protect children, and gay parents too, then we are willing to change our moving plans so we can make an impact with orphaned, abandoned and foster children in our own country.
Where in the USA are Amy and Michelle?
Now that some laws are slowly changing, we are happy to announce that we are currently using our own funds to travel and research properties and Children Homes in a State that recently changed their laws in January 2018. Can you guess which State we are in?
Comment below if you have a guess (and you didn't already know:)

P.S. We believe in the power of prayer. Please pray that we are perfectly guided during our search for the perfect location. Please also pray for funding to rain so we can start AKLP ASAP. ❤️
