​Laura Ford

SECRETARY 

Laura was born in the Bronx and is of Puerto Rican/German heritage. Her family moved to
Southern California where her father pursued a career as a Construction Coordinator in the
Motion Picture Industry. While in California she worked as the Executive Assistant for the Motion Picture & Television Writers Pension and Health Fund in Burbank CA. She and her husband relocated to Asheville NC in 2003 to...take a position in her father’s construction company to help build an Affordable Housing Development. Scott did the building and Laura did the selling.  She was an essential liaison with the City of Asheville to secure the low interest loan opportunities that were being given. After completing the development she held several positions in project management for various companies within the Construction Industry.

She has years of experience working for a non-profit. Her experience also includes keeping all records to ensure compliance with various grant funding, program development, marketing, fundraising, outreach, networking and business coaching to help women entrepreneurs start or grow their own business.

Laura and her husband share their home with their three dogs named Chopper, Buddy and
Gigi. Both Laura and Scott are Harley Davidson enthusiasts and have enjoyed traveling the
beautiful backroads of the Smoky Mountains.  Their 32 year old daughter lives in Seattle with her husband and Laura is patiently (not really) waiting on grandkids lol.

It has always been a passion of Laura’s to help individuals who haven't been given the
opportunities that she has had.   She and her husband have been very involved with various
Christmas Charities providing gifts for children that without their help would not be
celebrating the joy of the holidays.  Laura has always felt “there is nothing better than knowing that I might have helped to put a smile on a child's face.”
